Introduction:
eZone Books is an affordable online accounting software that can help small and medium-sized businesses manage their finances, payroll, inventory, and more. It is growing all-in-one accounting software that automates business workflows and helps you work collectively across departments and multiple locations.
Problem Definition:
The current website layout was not intuitive, making it hard for users to understand the product’s goal and vision. The user experience was poor, with a high bounce rate and low user conversion. The website was not technically SEO-friendly, limiting its visibility on search engines. Lastly, the website was not a good web accessibility, which excluded a portion of the potential user base.
Research and Ideation:
To address these issues, we conducted user research, including interviews and surveys, to understand the user’s pain points and preferences. We also reviewed best practices for website design, technical SEO, and web accessibility. Based on this research, We proposed a clean, minimalist design with a clear navigation structure, a strong call-to-action (CTA) strategy, improved technical SEO, and better web accessibility.
Design Process:
We started by creating wireframes for the new website using Figma, based on the user research and design principles. We then moved on to creating a prototype, which was tested with a small group of users. Their feedback was instrumental in refining the design, and we made several iterations based on their input. Once the design was finalized, We started the development and implementation using WordPress.
Technical SEO Optimization:
To optimize the website for technical SEO, Our team incorporated several strategies:
- Ensured the website was crawlable and indexable by search engines.
- Submitted an XML sitemap to Google to help search engines discover and index the website’s pages.
- Created an SEO-friendly site structure with a logical flow of information.
- Improved the website’s loading speed to enhance user experience and improve SEO.
- Made the website mobile-friendly to ensure it was accessible to users on different devices.
- Identified and fixed duplicate content issues to prevent duplicate content penalties.
- Used structured data to help search engines understand the content of the website.
Final Design Solution:
The final design featured a clean interface and its layouts and graphics, making it easily accessible on all devices. The website was fully responsive, ensuring a seamless experience across all devices. The CTAs were clearly marked and prominent, encouraging users to take action. Our team also ensured that the website was technically SEO-friendly by implementing the strategies mentioned above. Lastly, we made sure the website was a good web accessibility.
Impact and Learnings:
The redesigned website saw a several increase in conversions within the first month. This project taught us the importance of user research, technical SEO, and web accessibility in website design. It also reinforced our belief in the power of simplicity and user-centered design.
